Common Questions
How far in advance should we book?
Even short notice is often possible. If the date is available, arrangements can typically be made quickly.
Do you have to be Scottish to have bagpipes at a funeral?
Not at all. Bagpipes are requested at services across many backgrounds — Celtic heritage, military traditions, or simply a love of the instrument. If it feels right for the person being remembered, that's reason enough.
Where does the piper usually stand during the service?
That depends on the setting and family preference. Common placements include outside the chapel entrance, at graveside, or walking ahead of the procession. Ryan works with the funeral director to find what fits the space.
What songs are most commonly requested?
Amazing Grace is the most frequent request. Going Home, Highland Cathedral, Flowers of the Forest, and Danny Boy are also common. If you're unsure, suggestions based on the tone of the service are always available.
Can you coordinate with the funeral home?
Yes. Ryan regularly works with funeral directors on timing, positioning, and how the performance fits the service. Families don't need to relay details back and forth — coordination is handled directly.
